------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yo -- Rocky Fans...

Mark your calendar and get out your checkbook.

June 27 is the date to get your dream souvenir.

The ROCKY statue is for sale at auction with an opening bid of $1 million.

The International Institute for Sport and Olympic History has consigned ROCKY #3 to the Regency-Superior company for sale at its 42nd public auction to be held June 26-27 at SPORTSFEST CHICAGO.

The IISOH tried to sell the statue on ebay in February. During the week that it was on ebay it generated lots of interest -- over 17 thousand hits on the ebay auction page and a single bid for $ 3 million. However -- the bid was fraudulent and the statue remained unsold.

The IISOH decided to consign the statue for sale with an auctioneer that had experience in live public sales. Regency-Superior vice-president Michael Barnes was noted for his role in achieving great sales with baseball memorabilia, notably some very famous home-run balls by Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa.

Regency-Superior has two locations -- the main office and a retail store are in St. Louis and a gallery is located in Beverly Hills. Their auction is being held at SPORTSFEST 2004, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center at 5555 N. River Road, Rosemont, Illinois. June 26th is the philatelic auction and June 27th is the sports auction, with ROCKY being listed as lot number 1279. See Regency-Superior's description here: ROCKY statue # 3 -- lot number 1279.

The IISOH is a Pennsylvania non-profit educational, literary and research corporation organized to operate a library and museum for the history of sport, physical education, recreation, dance, sport in art and the Olympic Games. The group is headquartered in State College, PA, which is also the location of the Pennsylvania State University. The organization is searching for property to construct a 300 acre campus which will include the library and museum plus a theater, restaurant, outdoor sculpture gardens and numerous sports and recreational facilities.

ROCKY # 2 and ROCKY # 3 were acquired by the IISOH from the artist A. Thomas Schomberg. The organization is using ROCKY # 3 as its first major fund-raising event. ROCKY # 2 will stand in front of the Institute's museum when it is constructed.

After the sale of ROCKY # 3 the IISOH will search for donors who will be able to make a $25 million donation in order to name the various buildings on the campus -- the Library, the Museum and the Theatre. There are other naming opportunities such as the restaurant -- which will be a separate building with an outdoor, European-style cafe surrounded by sculpture gardens, playgrounds and recreational facilities. There are numerous sports facilities planned as well as a full-size operating reproduction of the ancient stadium at Olympia, Greece. The large donations will enable those donors to have lifetime naming opportunities. For the IISOH it means the creation of a permanent operating endowment. IISOH President Harvey Abrams has set a goal of raising $180 million for the endowment in order to support the project in perpetuity.

The IISOH will eventually employ a staff of 30 in the Library and Museum, with as many as 300 full and part-time staff once the entire facility is completed.
