There are five (5) continental associations according to the IOC:

1 The Americas (PASO/ODEPA)
2 Europe (COE/EOC)
3 Asia (OCA)
4 Africa (ACNOA/ANOCA)
5 Oceana (ONOC)

Below you will find five regional charts -
each listing the countries within a continental association
Each chart has three columns.

First column - A numerical list of each country within that continental association.

Second column - in CAPITAL letters, the 3-letter abreviation that the IOC has created for all NOC's.

These abreviations are generally from English but can also be either from French such as Switzerland / SUI from the French "Suisse" or the language of that country such as SPAIN / ESP from the Spanish "Espagne").

Third column - the name of the country in English followed by the former name if there has been a name change.

1. IOC website and their publications in my library.
2. UNESCO Thesaurus.
3. CIA Factbook hosted by the Central Intelligence Agency.

No information is used from personal websites found on the web. Information from personal websites is second hand -- and is not always accurate.
I prefer to use primary sources of information that have knowledge and authority. Keep in mind that MY pages are second-hand for your research!
