Born Jacob Armstead Lawrence September 7, 1917 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Died June 9, 2000 in Seattle, Washington.
Jacob Lawrence was a well-known American artist whose works are in numerous distinguished museums.
His family moved to Easton, Pennsylvania and then to Harlem, New York. His work reflects the African-American
culture and struggle. The 1972 Munich poster comes from his original 1971 painting
which now hangs in the Seattle Art Museum (Seattle, Washington).
